Garbo's first lesson

Well FINALLY today we had a saddle and a fine day - and our first real lesson together. It was great. He really likes the new dressage saddle (NSC Jessica Dressage), and with Julie's help we worked on slowing and controlling his trot and on circles (of course) and transitions. It was such a lovely day - a big High right over the upper North Island. Garbo (and I) was really hot afterwards so I hosed him off and gave him some food. He was happy. I have decided just to the the Beginner Riding Test B test at the dressage competition on Saturday - and not do two tests - I was going to do Preliminary 1.2 as well but we haven't got our canter sorted out yet. One thing at a time. The BRT B only has trot and walk so we should be fine with that. As a treat for Garbo - and me - on Sunday we are going to go for a ride in the forest. Here's a picture from today.
