Blue was put to sleep today at 11pm, he was suffering from colic and the spasm colic treatment had not worked. It was very sad and in the end I know it was the best thing for him - but it was very difficult. I held him while he took his last breaths.
Blue was such a sweet horse. Everyone loved him - including all the other horses. He said goodbye to the latest love of his life - Alle - a few hours before he died - he called out to her as she walked past.
He had at least two of us there all day from 3pm comforting him. He tried so hard but in the end he just go too tired and his heart rate soared. I didn't let him get too distressed but I could tell he was rapidly getting worse just before I called the vet for the last time.
He had a good last few years with me, giving kids rides, and lots of pampering. He was such a cool pony to have as my first horse and I will always remember him. He taught me so much, he tried so hard to be my riding horse, but it wasn't to be - then he was retired and that suited him just fine.
He was such a sweet pony - and in the end he was such a good patient. He died peacefully and with me with him.
Bye Bye Blue Boy. I will miss you terribly.
Thanks so much to Michelle, JJ and George for being there all night with us.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I am sure it was hard to see your boy go in pain. But sometimes it is the best decision.
I am sure you have many wonderful memories to carry you through the hard times!
Thanks Pony Girl
