Massey ORD

Massey Pony Club had the first Open Ribbon Day of the season this Labour Weekend so I decided to take Garbo out to start getting him used to the crazy atmosphere that is a Pony Club Ribbon Day! He had a bit of a bucking hissy fit at one point - but I stayed on - just and once we entered the ring he was a little better although prancing around with his head in the air!

The day started badly - the plaiting took way longer than I thought - I had already gotten up at 5am to be at Julies by 6am, so we were late leaving by 30 minutes and then the float got stuck in the mud on entry to the grounds - it was really muddy. We had to unload the horses in the mud and try and get the car out. That took about an hour so after all that we missed the turnout class anyway (so we didn't need to do all the plaiting!). Grrrrr.

The show started at 9.30am and by 10.15 we were actually changed an on our horses amazingly enough (even though the float was still in the mud - the car was out so I loaded all the tack and hay from the float to the car). Garbo and I entered 4 classes and got one ribbon - 2nd in Best Rider which I was pleased with. Now I know what I need to work on more with Garbo (it's never ending but all part of the fun). For our very first ribbon day I think we did ok.
