Signed up for a two day clinic with Trisha Wren not really knowing anything about her apart form the fact she has worked with Mark Rashid (love his books). She has moved here from Scotland and she has also worked alot with Peggy Cummings. One of Trishas tag lines was Connected Riding - a blanced way to ride. Having read Sally Swifts two books in Centered Riding - this was something I was really interested in - but had not really put into practice.Day one we met the eleven others on the clinic including Michelle the host who had ridden advanced dressage which was nice to see. I was amazed actually how everyone on the course was so like minded. Being fairly new to riding (3 years) I had come across a lot of people who use force and anger to get their horse to 'behave' - it was nice to see there were others like me who didn't sign up for that - but had not found another way. I didn't like Parelli, or many other methods and books I had read (apart from Kelly Marks - loved her book Perfect Manners).
I had spent many a night on the internet trying to find centered riding instructors and even considered going to USA but not having my own horse with me was always a downside to that option.
Anyway - ground work on day one was great - learned heaps of ways to release tension - and biy did Garbo yawn - must have counted about 30 in an hour. He had a nice paddock to graze in, in between times, so it was a great day. The next day we were all looking forward to putting it all into practice but it poured down all day!
