I let the boys up the front on the drive again this morning. It was really frosty. I had left their covers off, I think they like it better, and if it's not raining and they have lots of hay they don't really need them - they have lots of hair! Well Maraschino doesn't have that much of a winter coat strangely enough.

Since the grass was still frozen I decided to give them a warm breakfast. I had just got this new Speedi Beet - it's beet pulp but flaked so you can soak it only for 5 minutes in hot water. I added some crushed linseed and Timothy Hay cubes to soak and then added some chaff.
The loved it and ate it all up (even though there was no grain). It was lovely just being outside with them as the sun came up and started de-frosting the grass.

George got me a wireless camera for my birthday. After I finished the yards I set up the camera in the barn looking out and came inside and and kept an eye on them from my laptop while I had breakfast and coffee etc. This is a still from the camera. It was so handy! I can't see this area from the living side of the house, you have to go into the spare room.
