I was not sure how Garbo would be for the show today - he has been suffering from some staggers symptoms the last two weeks - maybe longer if I really think back. He was a bit jumpy, but otherwise travelled well which I was worried about.
The judge seemed to take a dislike to us and placed horses above us that clearly didn't meet the Golden Horse rules - not saying that just to be a sore loser or anything. In the Golden Horse rules it states hooves should not be painted black - some were - and were placed. Then it states "Purity of colour is desirable and A Palomino must not have spots or patches of black, brown, white or chestnut exceeding 4 square cm " and then there was a horse with a large black mark on it's coat placed ahead of us.
For the mane and tail the rules state; Palomino manes and tails shall be white, ivory or silver with no more than 15% dark hair. In mane and tail classes, Palominos are judged solely on the colour and condition of the mane and tail and exclude the colour of the coat. Purity of colour is desirable and the presence of dark hairs will lower the score. Well - a horse with quite a dark tail (much darker than Garbos) was placed in Best Mane and Tail - and we were not placed.
Very bizarre!!
Anyway - I was pleased we got out - it was a huge show. Here's a piccy!
